Each The Alternative Board Facilitator is an experienced business person who has successfully completed the TAB Facilitator Training Program. Most facilitators run or have run their own businesses. The TAB Facilitator guides the group discussions without dominating the meetings and encourages all members to express their views while keeping the discussion on track. They also ensure problem solving ideas are generated and the meeting does not become a gripe session.
Bob Zelnick began his career in strategic and leadership development as a management trainer for human service providers in the mid-1970’s. His programs for helping managers to better lead and motivate public sector employees led to his work with private sector managers and supervisors
In the early and mid-1980’s Bob’s practice expanded to include corporate outplacement and executive coaching. His clients ranged from mid-level managers to senior executives at Fortune 500 companies. This business was located in Boston, Massachusetts though corporate training and speaking engagements took him all over the country.
In 1987 Bob took a hiatus from his practice to help run the family business in New Jersey, an electronic security systems company. As president, by shifting markets and services as well as realigning management systems the company grew to 100 employees and was eventually acquired in 1993. As part of the sales agreement, Bob stayed on until 1996 and then returned to his leadership development/management consulting business, Ashford Consulting Group.
During his tenure as a small business owner, Bob benefited from real, firsthand experience in the nuances of running and managing within a small business. His coaching and consulting programs reflect this experience with the special advantage of actually having to try these strategies himself with bottom-line implications.
Leadership training and executive coaching programs currently range from as small as single entrepreneurs to senior managers within United Parcel Service.
The Alternative Board (TAB), a component of Ashford Consulting remains committed to closely-held businesses. TAB currently serves 37 CEO’s in five peer advisory groups and through coaching to improve their leadership skills and gain more productivity.
Facilitated Peer Training for managers is Bob’s most unique program offering. As of January, 2007, Ashford Consulting is running three peer groups made up of managers from different companies as well as several programs for managers within the same company.
